A flower risen in a field of grass has been stepped on but is still standing tall.
Often when people walk they don’t watch where they’re stepping.
They either aren’t paying attention, or they don’t care to look.
But that flower that has been stepped on is still risen and is still just as beautiful.
Its coloring stands out in comparison to the grass around it
and I wonder if it’s aware of its beauty.
Does it even know how magnificent it looks or does it believe it’s the same as its surroundings?
Does it know the admiration it receives from its audience or does it just merely exist among a field of grass?
I kneel down beside the flower, and I admire its display.
In an intimate moment of privacy that the world doesn’t seem to break,
I whisper quietly “you’re beautiful.” and I walk away.
Afterthought:
People typically don’t look at their feet while walking because it’s portrayed as a lack of confidence.
While walking with head high shoulders up, one might not realize the flowers they are stepping on while walking through the grass.
But a tough flower will rise even after being stepped on by the character of confidence, unaware of its existence.
Off-Topic afterthought:
Sometimes while in the moment, we forget to smell the flowers and take a breath of the fresh air.
We often wait until we’re leaving when we try to take it in quickly before it’s time to depart, at the realization that we don’t have much time left.
